Emergency Lockdown & Evacuation Notification System

USIlluminations recently installed an emergency lockdown and evacuation notification system that could lessen or even prevent future tragedies. Every second matters when it comes to securing a building in a potentially tragic situation.

Emergency Lockdown and Evacuation Notification System

The emergency lockdown and evacuation system features a wireless paging controller, that when pressed, 911 dispatchers are automatically notified. Important personnel can also be notified directly. An automated message can be broadcast over a public address system throughout the building for everyone to follow lockdown procedures or silent visual alerts can be displayed on video boards. Office Lighting

Good lighting not only enables people to see, it affects how they feel. Energy efficient lighting can help enrich office life and reduce the energy demands on a building. Lighting is one of the most attractive ways to save energy as older, inefficient lighting technology can account for 40% of the office electricity bill.

Companies can benefit from efficient and effective office lighting. Today’s workplace is a complex and fluid environment, involving a wide range of visual tasks.

Exterior Lighting

By upgrading to energy efficient lighting, you save money. Another important savings factor for exterior lighting (or any difficult to reach area) is the savings achieved through reduction in maintenance costs.

Energy efficient exterior lighting takes two approaches: using the most efficient types of lamps, and using efficient controls to determine when the lighting is used.

Recreational & Sports Facility Lighting

Lights run in recreational facilities for extended periods of time, resulting in high electricity bills. Even when patrons aren’t in the facility, lights may be left on for a janitorial crew. By installing energy efficient lights you can reduce energy costs and heat gain. Installing sensors controlled by occupancy and natural light levels can reduce your costs.

Because recreational facilities typically have high energy consumption, upgrading to energy efficient technologies can significantly reduce their energy and operating costs – both immediately and for years to come.

Restaurant Lighting

Restaurants are the most energy intensive commercial buildings in the United States according to the Energy Information Administration. Restaurants, per square foot, consume nearly three times the energy of the average commercial building. Closets, storage rooms, break rooms and even walk-in refrigerators are great candidates for occupancy sensors. Exit signs using LEDs are a great alternative to incandescent-based signs.

Lighting accounts for nearly 13% of all the energy used in a restaurant. It is one of the easiest places to save money.

Our 2 Year Anniversary Countdown | Recreational

As USIlluminations reaches our two year anniversary on March 11th (hooray!) we take a look back at some of the projects we’ve done over the past two years that have helped clients conserve energy, reduce maintenance costs and enhance their work environments.

Today, we look at two of our recreational facility clients.

Lights run in recreational facilities for extended periods of time, resulting in high electricity bills. Even when patrons aren’t in the facility, lights may be left on for a janitorial crew. By installing energy efficient lights you can reduce energy costs and heat gain. Also, indirect up lighting reflects off the ceiling, reducing glare for patrons. Continue reading

Our 2 Year Anniversary Countdown | Manufacturing

Today, we look back at two of our manufacturing clients that experienced some great savings and better lighting. How does a total five year savings of $102,104 sound?

Manufacturers have a lot to gain from new lighting. It’s important to consider that 90 percent of the cost of operating a lighting system is the energy it consumes.

Part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 was a commercial building deduction that allows building owners to accelerate the deduction on the cost of energy efficient lighting or building upgrades, subject to a cap, in the year the equipment is placed in service. Continue reading

Our 2 Year Anniversary Countdown | Schools

Today, we look at two of our educational facility clients that we helped conserve energy, reduce maintenance costs and enhance their work environments over the past two years.

Lighting accounts for nearly 50 percent of the electric bills in most schools. A simple lighting upgrade can help any school start to save money – today. According to studies, incandescent lights and standard fluorescents reduce learning. Fluorescent lights have also been shown to increase fidgeting and restlessness in school aged children. Lighting is linked to being a major contributor to student health and learning. Continue reading
